Amy’s Update for the Week of 5-20-24

Amy’s Update     Dear Colleagues, The Spring quarter sprint has officially begun with just under a month until we reach the end of the quarter, the academic year, and commencement. This week, we have three big celebrations and events on campus: The TRIO End of Year and RISE Center Phoenix celebrations, and the annual Applied Research Symposium. All three celebrate the success of our students. I’ve shared more specifics about each event below. During this very busy time at the college, and with the end of the year in our purview, please be sure you take care of yourself. With the longer days and nicer weather, if you’re able to take a few moments to sit outside or take a short walk, it’s a great way to clear your head and get some Vitamin D, something we lack throughout most of the year. And now, the latest news from around the college: External Engagement Meeting with Mike Meotti, Executive Director, Washing Student Achievement Council: MFG: 3 Monday, I met with Mike Meotti, the Executive Director of the Washington Student Achievement Council (WSAC) on campus. Meeting with Lalita Uppala, Executive Director, Indian American Community Services: MFG: 1, and 3 Earlier this afternoon I look forward to welcoming Lalita Uppala, the Executive Director and Community Program Director for Indian American Community Services (IACS), to campus. According to their website, “Indian American Community Services (IACS) formerly known as India Association of Western Washington (IAWW), is the longest-serving Indian community-based organization in the Pacific Northwest. IACS works to connect and empower the Asian-Indian community through programs, services, and advocacy for people of...
